Work collected in: Fernández García, Noelia. De la reconstrucción a la renovación. La arquitectura religiosa durante el franquismo en Asturias (1938-1965). Gijón: Trea, 2021.
The parish church of San Vicente de los Prados seems to have had its origins in the 18th century, since in addition to presenting the structure of the traditional Asturian architecture of this stage, it has an inscription indicating the year 1792 on the lintel of the portal. access side.
It was damaged during the civil war and restored later, thanks to a grant from the National Board for the Reconstruction of Parish Temples. Miguel Ángel García Lomas Mata (1912-1976) was in charge of carrying out the restoration project for this temple. Although it is true that neither the memory nor the plans appear dated, we can affirm that it was carried out before 1942, due to the bureaucratic documentation that accompanies the project. The intervention of Miguel Ángel García-Lomas Mata in San Vicente de los Prados, in Lué, is in line with the topic of involution of the restoration criteria during the first Francoism, due to different issues: not only the structure and the external appearance and those elements considered anachronistic were eliminated to return the temple to a supposed original image.
