Nature is once again present in public sculpture Trecho, located in Los Canapés (Avilés) and made between 1994 and 1996, when it is installed. This piece flows in the different discourses of the avilesino, since it could fit perfectly in the industrial section, as Jaime Luis Martín has exposed in relation to matter (he uses Corten steel for its manufacture), with space (located in a point near Ensidesa) and with its shape (again, he resorts to pyramidal shapes that are linked to the sculptural geometric line that he adopts in exhibitions of this period such as in El orden natural de las cosas in the Museo Barjola.
This piece is more linked to the natural discourse, due to the fact that its pyramidal geometric forms refer to a primitivist and almost totemic sculptural language that we must understand with that feeling of the artist of wanting to be linked to the origins of the human being, to his history, to his plastic art. , to the fact of making us people. The piece should not be studied or analyzed in the space where it is currently located, but we must attend to the project that Benjamín Menéndez had in mind to place it on the lawn near this place. The piece would be linked and would fit better in this natural space, establishing a more correct dialogue than in its current location, where we see the work constrained by the presence of urban furniture such as the railing that does not allow us to enjoy the piece, or the little The importance given to the work as it is located in a limited and passing space, with a large presence of traffic that damages the deterioration of the piece, favoring its deterioration.
